Hi, I’m Cat Weiss.
I’ve studied Hellenistic astrology for a few years now, after branching out into it from my wider studies on esoterica in general. My work on a documentary film series prompted my deeper investigation into astrology, which is one of the foundations of Hermeticism, along with theurgy and alchemy.
I realised that astrology was fundamental to spiritual practice in the ancient world, especially where ritual was concerned, but also the metaphysical philosophy that underpins astrology is essential to understanding the symbolism that was so pervasive in ancient times and is revealing of deep cosmic truths from a long forgotten past. And so what began as a mere intellectual interest and desire to deepen my knowledge of philosophy and symbolism later morphed into a desire to utilise astrology in my own life and to help others.
Astrology has been of such great personal benefit to me that I feel obliged to share it with others. I look forward to working with you and helping you to navigate the challenges of life from a spiritual perspective.
My approach
I approach astrology from the perspective that the ancients knew things we didn’t and I try to keep my practice in line with their worldview. While many astrologers tend to filter the stars through the lens of modernity and thus bring in certain biases, I attempt to remain true to ancient principles, even where it is at odds with modern “progressive” beliefs and sensibilities.
OPEN-MINDEDNESS
I consider myself philosophically to be a capital-T Traditionalist, and this very much informs my astrological interpretations. Spiritually speaking, I tend to be more aligned with the Eastern dharmic traditions personally, but I consider myself an open-minded spiritual seeker and have a soft spot in my heart for all religions.
While my readings are necessarily coloured by my own beliefs, including a belief in God, it is certainly not a requirement that you share these beliefs in order to seek a reading. I will present the reading to you the way that I see it and will do my best to make it make sense to you in the context of what you believe and you are free to accept or reject it as you see fit. I will never preach to you and encourage you to use the reading as an opportunity for your own inner exploration in whatever way is most beneficial for you.
INCLUSIVITY
It is fashionable today among astrologers to privilege certain “protected classes” among their clients, and while I can appreciate that they are providing a space for those people to be heard and receive guidance, in general, that is not what I specialise in.
That said, people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and identities are welcome to seek my services and will find a friendly and non-judgmental ear, and this includes groups that are typically excluded from consideration by other astrologers.
I do not believe anyone should be made to feel uncomfortable seeking astrological guidance. We are all here living out the karma that has been bestowed upon us and my role is help you figure out how best to work with the karma you have, no matter who you are.
Privacy
Having your natal chart read can reveal a lot of very personal things about you and so it is important that you feel safe to open up about what is going on in your life. I can help you best if you feel you are able to speak freely. One of the biggest reasons people have told me they hesitate to get an astrological reading is because they are worried that many of these strongly ideological astrologers might use their personal information against them in a negative way.
I maintain a strict code of confidentiality with my clients.
Your personal details and your chart information will never be shared without your express permission. Occasionally, I may ask clients if I may share part of their chart or story with my study group anonymously, as a teaching tool, with all identifying details changed or removed, and this is only done with your explicit consent. Your privacy matters to me and I seek to create a space for you to share your story without fear.
